Training/Background/ Approach
Training: Dr. Jacobs received his Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from William James College (then MSPP), and has also earned a B.A. from Brandeis University, an Ed.M. from the Harvard University Graduate School of Education, and an M.B.A. from Salem State Univeristy.
Background: Dr. Jacobs has had a private practice for over twenty years. He is also an Associate Professor at William James College (WJC) in Newton, MA and teaches in the School Psychology and Organizational Leadership Psychology Departments at WJC. He was formerly the Director of Partial Hospital Programs (adolescent and adult) at NSMC/Salem Hospital in Salem, MA. He has presented over 200 professional trainings for professionals on topics related to mental health and substance abuse prevention and intervention issues.
Approach: Dr. Jacobs has a strong background in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and uses this, along with utilization of other psychological theories, to help clients find successful ways to address their concerns from a strengths-based perspective.
